Personnel 1, 2001

Queens Museum of Art, Corona Park, New York.

Commissioned for the exhibition Seductions and Games at the Queens Museum of Art, Corona Park, New York.

The first in the series, this installation offered an alternative to stress as well as to the lack of privacy and personal space, key problems in many workplaces. The piece, a simulacrum of a vacation retreat, consisted of cabins placed in the galleries. These cabins were meant to be used by staff for meetings, breaks, and even naps, so the furniture inside included comfortable chairs, a cot, and various functional items. Projected onto the wall behind the sheds was a large scale video image of a forest. In addition, one of the sheds contained video installations that focused on workplace surveillance.
